“My mother had this navy blue velvet suit made for her wedding in November 1949. My parents married in America in Oak Park, Illinois. She always took pride in how she presented herself, she was always smartly dressed. I now handle the wedding suit with care as it is a symbol of exciting possibilities for the future, for not just one life but for the two lives that became one. She gave the dress to me when I was a teenager and I wore it many times.”
